Adding Voice Recognition to a Camera and Intercom System

Designer:  Samuel Bowden

Abstract

The purpose of the project is to aid a woman with quadriplegia by enhancing the security of her home and her ability to communicate with visitors through voice activated camera and intercom systems.  One VR Stamp module was programmed to read voice commands and issue a signal to a BASIC Stamp which sends the corresponding signal to an X10 transceiver via an RF transmitter.  The system consists of three cameras which send wireless video signals to a receiver connected to a television.  A second VR Stamp was programmed to activate switches on a wireless intercom.  This voice activated intercom has the ability to communicate with 2 additional intercoms and a doorbell station.
